FLEADH CHEOIL ÁTHA CLIATH 2015

Fleadh Cheoil Átha Cliath was organized this year by Craobh Naithí branch of Comhaltas. It was a tremendous success and there was a huge amount of 'behind the scenes' voluntary work went into organizing and running the event. It was held in St. Pauls Secondary School in Walkinstown the weekend 8th / 9th of May. It was a great location and a great weekend was had by all. Craobh Naithí came home with an impressive haul of medals - 70 in total - including a very impressive first placing in all of their Ceilí Band entries - U12, U15 and U 18. This is a tremendous testament to the skill, commitment and hard work of students, parents and teachers alike. We are very grateful to the Fleadh Committee chaired by Seán Byrne for making Fleadh Átha Cliath 2015 the success that it was.

Féile Naithí 2014

Féile Naithí 2014, Craobh Naithí’s weekend festival of traditional music workshops, masterclasses, concert recitals and sessions took place over the weekend of 14th and 15th November.

This is the 19th consecutive year that Craobh Naithí has run this event and it continues to play an important part in the development of our young musicians.

The weekend got off to a flying start with a lively session in Faughs GAA Club, where over 30 young and not so young musicians entertained the club patrons.

Masterclasses were held in St. Colmcille’s Community School on Saturday 15th.  Visiting tutors were Edel Fox from Miltown Malbay on concertina, Colm Gannon from Boston via Conamara taught button accordion, Tommy FitzHarris from Stradbally, Co. Laois on concert flute and Donal McCague from Scotstown, Co. Monaghan on fiddle.

For our younger pupils, Sarah-Jane Woods delivered an excellent Junior Traditional Music Workshop with the emphasis on fun and enjoyment and was supported by guest storyteller Niall de Búrca.

The festival highlight was the concert in the Divine Word Parish Centre in Marlay Grange where the visiting tutors delivered a top class concert to a very appreciative audience.  In keeping with recent tradition, Craobh Naithí brothers Eric and Conor Nolan opened the first half of the concert with lovely flute and concertina playing and the second half of the concert was started by very sweet duet playing from Sadhbh NicUileagóid on fiddle and Tierna Rowsome on concertina.

Many thanks to all Craobh Naithí committee members who made Féile Naithí 2014 such a success and also to the Arts Council for their continued financial support.

Fleadhanna 2014

Well done to all those who competed at the Dublin, Leinster and All Ireland Fleadhanna over the summer. All the hard work bore fruit. Competitors gained valuable experience as well as a great time being had by all.

Fleadhanna 2013

Fleadh Atha Cliath

The Fleadh Season opened very successfully with Fleadh Atha Cliath. The Fleadh was held in Malahide on Tuesday 7th May to Sunday 12th May 2013.

The Branches Groups and Bands played so well that they gained places in five of the six competitions they had entered for and were a credit to Craobh Naithí and their directors.

The group competitions took place on Saturday and Sunday was the turn of the Trios, Duets and Solo competitions and our members were a credit to our branch.

Leinster Fleadh

The Fleadh was hosted for the first time by Edenderry branch of CCÉ.
It took place from the 6th to the 14th of July.

We were not as fortunate with our groups and bands in Edenderry as in Malahide but our musicians gained valuable experience at performing at a provincial Fleadh
